“Extra’s” Tanika Ray sat down with J. August Richards at Universal Studios Hollywood as he promoted his digital series “Giants.”
 
Aside from starring, directing, and writing the show, Richards is also playing one of TV’s original black superheros on “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” He gushed, “I love playing this character. It’s like all of my childhood dreams come true.”
 
As for the box-office success of “Black Panther,” Richards saw it coming! He emphasized, “It’s so important for kids to see themselves at the center of a narrative.”
 
“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” airs Friday nights on ABC.
