A study out this week shows that long distance and short distance runners may receive many of the same health benefits.

The research published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology by American researchers says that running, no matter how fast or how long, will reduce risk of early death by 30 percent. Runners also had a 45 percent lower risk of dying from heart disease or stroke. Researchers looked at people who ran 30 minutes a week and others who ran two hours per week, and the mortality rate was about the same.

It was a 15-year study that examined more than 50,000 people to determine the impact that running even short distances had on heart health.
