18 people confirmed dead as Hurricane Irma continues

Britain is stepping up its relief effort in the Caribbean, as Hurricane Irma continues to flatten island after island. RAF planes are heading to the region, while Royal Navy personnel have begun delivering aid to British Overseas Territories hit by the storm. The latest is the British Virgin Islands, where the Governor says he's "heartbroken" by the death and devastation. Another British territory, Turks and Caicos was hit overnight. In all 18 people are confirmed dead - many more, including Britons, are missing.
