(24 Oct 2018) U.S. President Donald Trump vowed Wednesday that "acts or threats of political violence have no place in the United States." He was speaking in the White House after multiple reports of suspicious devices being sent to Democrats and media companies. He told the East Room audience, "we have to unify, we have to come together." Trump was briefed on the ongoing investigation into the suspicious packages that were delivered to current and former high level government officials, a news organization, and a high profile public figure before making his first public comments. NYPD's chief of counterterrorism says the explosive device sent to CNN's headquarters in New York appeared to be sent by the same person who mailed pipe bombs to George Soros, Hillary Clinton and former President Barack Obama. John Miller and FBI officials said a news conference the devices all appeared to be crude pipe bombs. No one was injured by any of the devices.
