Transsexual and transgender people have been banned from getting a driving licence in Russia. The government there has included this on a list of “mental disorders” barring people from qualifying to be on the road. As well as barring transsexual and transgender people, the new diktat included fetishism, exhibitionism and voyeurism. Vladimir Putin’s government claims the new “medical controls” will reduce road accidents. “Pathological” gambling and compulsive stealing are also on the list.
