Stocks tumbles and erasing S&P 500's gains for the year

The Dow plummeted by 600 points as the closing bell approached while the S&P 500 fell by 84 points. The slouch means that the Dow has now erased all of its 2018 gains. The tech-heavy Nasdaq composite bore the brunt of the sell-off, leaving it more than 10 percent below its August peak, what Wall Street calls a 'correction.'
