DAYTON -- This weekend 25 rowers from the Dayton Boat Club will compete at the U.S. Rowing Youth Nationals.   The team has three girls boats and two guys boats going to Tennessee to compete against the best in the nation.   Something that's becoming a common occurance for this team of about 50 rowers and has them all very excited.   It's basically like our Super Bowl, Chaminade-Julienne senior Sarah peffley said.   It's the thing we train for all year and that everyone wants to go to. And that's our biggest competition.   It's pretty surreal when we're out there against teams that have 100  guys and they've been rowing since junior high and they're ripped and all tan, Springboro junior Gavin Sebald said.   And we're hear from Dayton and we've got 10 guys to row with and we're still able to compete with them.   But Dayton, ohio is not a place many in the rowing community even think of when it comes to the sport that is predominantly done on the east and west coasts.   All the girls (I'm going to row with in college) are from Connecticut and out east and always like you're from midwest, i'm surprised you row, C-J senior Gretchen Bruggeman said.   And when the area rowers tell friends what they do they're usually several misconceptions.   Everyone thinks that rowing is upper body, it's really not, it's the  legs, C-J junior Zach Thomas said.   Bruggeman added, whenever people ask you what you do they're like what, what is that   It's nothing like canoeing. You use your legs more than anything, Peffley said.   But over the past eight years the Dayton Boat Club has started to make their presence felt on the national level with seven top ten finishes.   You hear people say you're from the Dayton Boat Club and our names slowly starting to build up and become more recognized and more well known for turning out really good rowers, Peffley said.   And this year's team features Peffley who is signed to join reigning national champion Ohio State in the fall and Gretchen bruggeman will join her All-American sister, Molly, at Notre Dame.   It actually really pushes me a lot, she's gone really far in rowing and she has really high expectations for herself and it makes me want to work harder, Gretchen said.   And just making it to nationals means each team is among the top 25 in the country.   Really excited about it. Even not placing that well we're just excited to even go but we're going to hope for the best, Gretchen said.   Molly Bruggeman is also an Olympic hopeful and member of the USA's U-23 team at the World Championship. Molly is also the 3rd former DBC Member to compete internationally.   Sebald is looking at pursuing his rowing career at an Ivy League school like Brown. He also is an Olympic hopeful.   Competition runs June 7th-9th starting at 8 a.m. on Friday.
