The Hope Mills town manager warned people downstream from Hope Mills Lake south of Fayetteville that flood waters from Hurricane Florence could overtake the dam and spillway following Hurricane Florence, Sept. 16, 2018. Water was being released in hopes of preventing uncontrolled flooding.
