Andrea Rothfuss came into the games as an athlete tipped by many for great success. But in her first two events, she failed to finish.

Then, her mother called from Germany to with an emotional message of how much love and support she had at home, and how the whole country was behind her.

And perhaps that was just what she needed to fire her to Gold in the Women's Slalom.
