You wanted to know if thyroid disorders can affect a woman's ability to conceive. And actually, they can. Hyperthyroidism and Hypothyroidism can affect a woman's cycles. And if you're irregular and not having regular periods, then it's really hard to know when and even if ovulation is happening at all, and that, of course, makes it really hard for you to time intercourse with ovulation. So if you have irregular periods, the best thing to do is to talk with your doctor and they can determine what the cause is. If it happens to be a thyroid disorder, which is diagnosed after doing a blood test, then they can determine if treatment is warranted. And once your levels are regulated, then you should start to have regular cycles and pregnancy is possible if you time intercourse with ovulation. If you have more specific questions and concerns about your circumstances, don't hesitate to talk with your doctor who can give you more tailored information and advice. And if you have more questions in the future for me, feel free to ask them on our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/IntermountainMoms, and recommend us to your friends and family too.
