It is time to stop reclaiming the lesson of our ancestors. We should not give up the struggle for learners to undertake a risk and probe and do things their own way. We are born to learn by doing things, which bring meaning to our lives.

Olga Kovbasyuk has 3 degrees, including Specialist in Linguistics, PhD in Education, and MA in Strategic Management. She has been teaching and doing research for over 20 years in a wide range of academic institutions. She has also been consulting companies on how to manage cultural diversity, as a licensed Cultural Detective Trainer. Currently she is teaching Cross-Cultural Management at the European Business School, I. Kant Baltic Federal University, Kaliningrad.

Dr. Kovbasyuk has set up one of the first private schools and one of the largest NGOs in the Russian Far East. She is co-founder and co-director of the Meaning Centered Institute, and First President, now a member of the Executive Board of the Higher Education International Association.

She has an extensive record of professional publications (over 70) including Book Chapters and Books (Meaning Centered Education, Routledge, USA, 2013).

Her work has been recognized through numerous awards and prizes, including a national medal “For Excellence in Work”, Teachers Excellence Award from the State Department, USA, Fulbright and DAAD (Germany) institutional fellowships.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
