Donna is an educator.  While teaching, she developed a passion for educational technologies.  She pursued a degree in this area and now serves schools as an Instructional Technology Specialist, helping teachers integrate technology into learning.  Donna and her husband have two children: a tall, skinny 13 year old son with a kind heart, and a seven year old daughter who loves music and flashcards. Donna's journey with her daughter, Olivia, is filled with mysteries, challenges, and blessings.  Autistic and physically disabled, Olivia has very few words to communicate her needs and spends her days crawling or in a wheelchair.  Olivia's many challenges have been the impetus for a new passion in Donna's life.  Exploring how assistive technologies alter the lives of disabled children and adults has blended her love of teaching, learning, technology, and special needs. Sharing her story, Donna hopes to inspire those around her to connect with and support one another, no matter their abilities.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
