Here is the discussion and analysis of Chapter 3 in Nibley's book Abraham in Egypt. This chapter set forth what the scholarship of ancient Egyptian understanding was according to Egyptologists, and how Nibley shows the Book of Abraham story also fits in with the ancient Egyptian and Mesopotamian "Paradigmatic initiation" rituals of Mesopotamia and Egypt, as the scholars pronounced the connections.

Nibley, unlike many Book of Abraham critics, actually works with the scholarly, established methods of showing the Sitz im Leben and provenance of the literatures.
