Phir mujhe deeda-e-tar yaad aaya
Dil jigar tashna-e-fariyaad aaya
(Remember my eyes wet with tears when we part 
Still thirsty for your company were my soul & heart)  

Dam liya tha na qayaamat ne hanoz
Phir tera waqt-e-safar yaad aaya
(You are here but the relief is a little short 
Its hell remembering, you will soon depart) 

Saadgi haay tamanna, yaanee
Phir woh nai-rang-e-nazar yaad aaya
(Its modesty of my desire, I believe you love me
Hope I am not reading deceit in your lovely eye).  

Uzr-e-waamaandagee 'ei hasrat-e-dil
Naala karta tha jigar yaad aaya
(To make ends meet, love matters & grieved heart 
Its too much for me my spirit is now falling apart)

Zindagi yoon bhi guzar hi jaati
Kyon tera raahguzar yaad aaya?
(I could have lived through my life without you
Why am I so obsessed in my relation with thou?) 

Kya hee rizwaan se ladaayee hogi
Ghar tera khuld mein gar yaad aaya
(If I die, strife if I have to with the keeper of heaven
My spirit will visit you, even if its act of transgression)

Aah woh jurat-e-fariyaad kahaan
Dil se tang aake jigar yaad aaya
(Alas! Due harsh love life of mine, its futile wishing
Being fed up of heart ache I turn to soul searching)

Phir tere kooche ko jaata hai khayaal
Dil-e-gumgashta magar yaad aaya
(Despite life's vagaries, I think of your dwelling 
Remember that I lost my heart to you, my darling!)

Koi veeraani-si-veeraani hai
Dasht ko dekh ke ghar yaad aaya
(My abode without you is so much desolate
It portrays the picture of dull, dry desert)

Maine Majnoon pe ladakpan mein 'Asad'
Sang uthaaya tha kay sar yaad aaya!
(Forgetful of my own love life during adolescence Asad!  
Was about to pelt stone on Majnu & remembered my head!)
