This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Can we learn to pay attention more deeply during a loud electronic age? Could the answers lie in the past? Kenneth Bé brings us to another place and time through music performance and painting restoration.

Kenneth Bé is the paintings conservator for the Nebraska State Historical Society's Gerald R. Ford Conservation Center in Omaha. Bé studied at Yale and earned graduate degrees in geology at SUNY at Albany, New York, and art history and art conservation at New York University. After many years as a museum conservator for paintings in Cleveland, Bé moved to Omaha, where he helps preserve and restore paintings across the Central Great Plains states.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
