This is a dramatic reading of "Justifying the Love for the Equivalence Principle" by the Stand-Up Physicist available at Science20.com. The weak equivalence principle means all matter responds to gravity. I lament the way the rocket science term is ignored. The strong equivalence principle means that gravity is exclusively due to changes in the metric. Only GR can do this minimalist work for a rank 2 field theory. My GEM effort is rank 1. There is a duality between metric and potential theory. The Lagrangians for general relativity and GEM are examined to spot the gravitational mass, inertial mass, reason for the equivalence principle, and why there is mass at all. In GR, the black box is matter Lagrangian. In GEM, there is a gauge term for the gravitational mass that necessarily always cancels the gauge for the inertial mass, justifying the equivalence principle.
