The DEC has the authority to control all aspects of wildlife, in all capacities. They are the governing authority over our wildlife rehabilitator license. They have determined that Vinny would be better off in another facility where he can interact and play with baby bears. Their current plan is to release him in the spring with those bears. The DEC no longer gives special licenses to allow people to KEEP wildlife in sanctuary care, so no matter WHAT, Vinny would have to be released. We are NOT happy about it and wont pretend to be...we love this little bear just like you do...but we do not have any choice but to abide by the DEC’s decision in this matter. Contacting them to complain won’t matter. They have made this decision with what they feel is in the best interest of the bear...and their decision is not something we can fight. We thank you all for the deep love, and support you gave us while we cared for this little guy.
