Originally recorded September 17, 2012. This is the same LCD monitor about 9 months later, when I decided to revisit the project. In this video I take the monitor apart again and wire the "unused" backlight to the working one. Mixed results on this--I think I'll end up "repairing" this monitor again. The backlight seems to be out on the left side, even though the tubes are on the top and bottom instead of the sides. I think the inverter does not have enough voltage/current to run both CCFLs, as a result the tubes do not light evenly, but the same ends are the bright ones. Perhaps altering the polarity of the other tube will mitigate the problem? That will be the next step, whenever I get around to it. If not, then I'll try a separate inverter for the tubes. If that works the I will effectively turn the LCD to a "CRT" by mounting an ATX power supply to its back. Hope the stand will keep it balanced!
