They come from Congo, Iraq, or Afghanistan: young people fleeing war and violence in their home countries. For most, the flight ends at the external borders of the European Union. And those who manage to make it to Germany often have to wait months for their asylum application to be approved. The SchlaU school in Munich is an important contact point for the young refugees. SchlaU stands for "Schulanaloger Unterricht für minderjährige unbegleitete Flüchtlinge" â or school-like instruction for underage, unaccompanied refugees. The schoolâs main goal is to integrate them into normal life.
