DISCUSSION: E Cape declares 8 Game Reserves

In a first of its kind initiative, the Eastern Cape has announced the declaration of 8 game reserves, totalling over 62 thousand hectares, as part of a massive contribution to the protected area estate of the province to protect biodiversity. It is a process that has taken close to two years to consolidate between private land owners and government structures. This is the biggest protected area to be declared.
