Technology and society trends suggest a marked shift towards the explicit pricing of information. Such trends include the ability to conduct transactions anywhere via mobile credit card readers through the bulk purchase of social network information. Augeri examines how such changes are affecting individuals with respect to their personal information, and how these changes are affecting the behavior of commercial organizations. Augeri's work in government, academia, and industry, included research on the deployment of a missile system, analysis of post-explosion effects of Mount Pinatubo, co-design of the initial patio showroom layout for Nebraska Furniture Mart, resolution of a key network issue at Midlands Community Hospital, teaching computer science at the U.S. Air Force Academy, and occasionally operating an unmanned aerial vehicle. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
