Oh yeah, mental balance is a thing in this game. Taking damage from metastreum creatures and various other acts can lower your mental balance to the point that you go "insane" and get some kind of post processing effect on your screen, or maybe you can't control yourself and shoot wildly. It's an interesting idea but the implementation is confusing and not really effective.
