Alexander Scriabin - Etude in C# Minor, Op. 2 No. 1

This is Scriabin's Etude, Op. 2 No. 1, and I learned it here in Bloomington, Indiana, with a bit of my spare time. I performed this on my parents' baby grand Steinway piano on one of my trips home, and my mom recorded this video for me. This is a beautiful and emotionally rich piece, despite not being exceptionally difficult, and I think it's amazing that Scriabin composed it as a teenager in the early 20th century. As I learned this piece, my teacher reminded me to consider the lengths of phrases (often 2-2-4), and to extract as much sound from each note while still maintaining a light touch...but also not to overuse rubato, which some consider to be a "drug". I'm not a professional and I'm certainly not Horowitz, but I hope you enjoy it anyway.
