Any personal recreation time for me is squeezed in to the cracks between commitments, and this Friday night to Saturday morning backpacking trip was no different. I was very fortunate, however, to squeeze this trip in when the weather was absolutely perfect. This hike to a new-to-me area turned out perfect. Although I had to make camp in the dark, I ended up picking a very nice spot. That spot was grassy, and dangerous for a fire, so I skipped it and retired that much earlier.

In part 2, I'll give you a look at the gear choices I made for this trip.
