Here's a YouTube slideshow of an apartment building I've been taking pictures of for over ten damned years. Out of all the surviving old apartments (Tiki and otherwise) I've seen all over LA and Long Beach, The Marina Apartments stands out. This building and its 1960's style and shape have remained, more or less, intact for decades!

It's located on Manchester Blvd. near the boarder line between Westchester and Playa Del Rey. I've been joyfully blinded by its exuberance that I never took note of its address. However, this stands out so much that, hell, you'll now it when you see it! Hint: it's on the south side of Manchester.

Even though I don't live in LA anymore (damn it!), I still make trips down there and manage to swing by to check out this my old friend of mine. You'll have to read Clive Piercy's photo book, Pretty Vacant: The Los Angeles Dingbat Observed (Chronicle Books), to understand that 'friend' part.

(UPDATE 2015) Speaking of books, another reason for this video is to annoy you with another pitch for my "new" zine series called SPACE AGE ASH TRAY ( http://donosdump.com/SpaceAgeAshTrayZine.html ).

Enjoy what's left of 'The Future' while you can, kiddos
