I was struck by how beautiful this place was in the snow, in a really awful way. To stand at the end of the very long railway line, flanked by the gas chambers, in the snow, alone, and looking down at the shadow of the most famous building of terror in the world, visible in the distance through the mist, was one of the strangest moments of my life. This place stays with you for good once you've been. We were only there for a short time, however, and I have a great deal more that I need to see.
