Russian engineers complete mine clearance in historic Palmyra

Russian engineers have successfully cleared ancient Syrian city Palmyra of explosives left behind by the so-called Islamic States(IS). Chief of the Russian Armed Forces Engineers, Lieutenant General Yuri Stavitsky, told Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday via video link to Moscow that nearly 3,000 explosive devices on about 230 hectares(2.3 sq km) of the World Heritage have been defused.
