Keira Knightley admitted that she prefers acting in historical roles because the way woman are portrayed in Hollywood these days is distasteful.

If you’ve ever wondered why Keira Knightley chooses historical roles more than modern day roles, then listen up.

The actress says she finds the way woman are portrayed in Hollywood these days is distasteful, and she notes that females are often raped or treated disrespectfully.

And when it comes to those historical roles, Keira said that she always found the characters offered to her in historical pieces very inspiring.

But Keira does admit that there’s been some progress in the writing of more current films. 

She says there’s been improvement and she’s being sent scripts with present-day women who aren’t raped in the first five pages and aren’t simply there to be the loving girlfriend or wife.

Guess we should keep our eyes peeled on the next few roles she chooses.
