This afternoon we had the privilege of watching the Waswagoning Native American dancers in St. Charles, Illinois at the Pottawatomie pavilion on the fox river as part of the celebration for Ēkwabet's 20th birthday. Ekwabet is a 15-foot tall bronze sculpture of a Pattawatomie Indian. The dancers put on a great event, although I was caught with run down batteries in my cameras. I will be much better prepared the next time. Waswagoning Dance Theatre group is from Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin, and they travel the country teaching people about their Ojibwe heritage and culture. They built a mini village, an authentic recreation of a Native American summer village. Some pictures of that are at the end of the video.
