Datin Elya Lim Abdullah is the co-founder of OphanCare, which is a charity organization that has been finding homes for orphans ever since the tsunami disaster of 2004. The Baby Hatch initiative was launched under OrphanCare in 2010 as a humane alternative to mothers with unwanted new babies, by allowing them to anonymously place their babies under the care of hatches setup around the country. She talks about the causes and effects of abortion and infanticide, and the dire need for the work being done at organizations such as OrphanCare. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
