(16 Nov 2018) J BALVIN FEELS 'SMALL' DESPITE MASSIVE FAME; KAROL G AND STEVE AOKI DISCUSS THE POPULAR WAVE OF LATIN MUSIC
J Balvin says, despite his success, he still feels "small."
The Colombian singer was speaking Thursday night (16 NOV. 2018) as he arrived at this year's Latin Grammy Awards in Las Vegas.
"The more I know the world, the more I travel, the more people I meet, the more I know that I am just too small," said Balvin.  "But that makes me feel that there's a lot of things to do, there's a lot of reasons to wake up, to dream and to conquer."
Balvin admitted he's "not a saint" but hopes he can make a positive impact with the platform he has.
"I do reggaeton which is like sexy vibes and some sweet vibes, but at the end of the day, it's the example, the way I live, the way I can share with the people the little bit of knowledge that I have."
Karol G, who picked up the coveted Latin Grammy for best new artist, said the growing influence of modern Latin music on the world stage is "like the new language."
"We did something great between the artists, too much fusions, different sounds, different kind of music and we are all together trying to bring people - different people - to these songs and we are super happy to have the Latin music going around the world."
Electronic music producer and DJ Steve Aoki says music in general is a "global" culture now.
"It's not just about an American culture or an English culture, it's about music that unifies people," he said.  "Latin music has always been doing that and I think with electronic music, my world, we've kind of been doing the same thing.  I think the essence of energy and dance and that doesn't have a language.  So I think that's one of the most beautiful things about Latin music is that you listen to it, you dance, you get into the groove, you get into the rhythm and you can't help yourself but feel good."
