Update on our off grid solar powered aquaponics system which has been running for over a week now.

I got fish in the tank a few days after I showed the aquaponics system and the solar power which runs it. Then a couple days after that I started to put in some plants.

Everything is looking good now. The plants are growing happily and have not even suffered transplant shock when I washed their roots off to put them into the grow bed.

The fish are living and healthy. They are eating fresh mosquito larva each day as I put more in there. Mosquitoes are easy to grow. All you have to do is put out some water for a few days and you have fresh food for the fish. I just make sure I empty it fully before the mosquitoes have time to come out of the water as adults.

The fish go wild for the larva and go into a feeding frenzy.

The entire system runs off two 15 watt solar panels which feed a deep cycle battery through a solar charge controller.

The water pump uses only 5 watts so it is easy to keep powered up 24/7 on solar power.
