This is where Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton and James Madison got together to make the Compromise of 1790, in which the two Virginians convinced Hamilton to "sell New York City down the river" in exchange for getting Hamilton's financial plan, in which the government would assume states' debts, through Congress. This meeting was held in secrecy and nobody outside knew what went on behind those closed doors, especially Aaron Burr, Sir.
