I was only going to upload this video to my personal facebook, but I had a few of you lovely mushrooms asking how my vacation went. My family and I decided to go to Hawaii to visit my Sailor brother who is currently stationed in Pearl Harbor. He told us he had a week off from duty and thought it'd be a good idea to take one final vacation (and an expensive one, at that!) as a family. What with my older brother who will probably never return home as a child to be taken care of, and me and my younger brother getting older- my parents are soon to become empty-nesters. The whole time we were there I kept think that this was a place for privileged people to visit, and we were just lucky to be there. It certainly is a beautiful island and I can see why people fall in love with the place. This video almost made me cry while editing it together, especially at the end when we have to say goodbye to my brother. I know these times won't always be around and we have to cherish the ones around us. I'm thinking about doing a Draw My Life, any thoughts guys? Since I'm talking a lot already, here's a story about my late Grandfather. I found his memoirs before we left and read them on the plane ride there. He died when I was only 2 so I don't remember him. This was one of his stories. "One day I was walking by myself to the park. The park had a brand new swimming pool, but it was for anglos only. Suddenly a group of anglo-boys surrounded me. They were led by a boy nicknamed: Buckshot Moore. The asked me where I was going. I told them I was going to the park to watch people swim. They told me my kind wasn't allowed in the park, and I saw them slowly begin to pick up some rocks. I took off immediately over a hill, running as fast as I can, hearing the whistles of the rocks flying over my head. I made it over the hill at last. I didn't get hit once." My grandfather was something of an innocent, even after the war. He was in the Navy, like Israel. He would have been proud of him.
