I put this together when researching Snakebite First Aid info. Me and my best mate do a fair bit of Hunting for Feral Pigs and we definitely go into snake country for several days. When in the Aussie bush, always make sure your zip up your tent when entering into or exiting from it. If your tent is left open, any snake can slither in and crawl into your nice and cozy sleeping bag or your clothes inside your tent, you come back at night, crawl into your sleeping bag and Whack !! You do not want to get bitten when you are in the middle of nowhere, miles and miles from medical help, out of mobile phone range, possibly hours from the nearest quack ! If you venture to the Aussie bush, make sure you have a suitable First Aid Kit. Carry plenty of bandages in case of snake bite. Make sure to know and practice your Snakebite First Aid techniques ! It could save your life or the life of your best friend or next of kin. If you encounter a snake, leave it alone and it will most likely go on it's merry way. Awareness is the best defence. Be careful around camp, do not get complacent, mice are attracted to bush camps due to the bits of food that will be thrown around, the mice or rats are snakes natural prey, and will in turn be attracted to your bush camp where you can come face to face with one of them ! Good Luck and Happy Camping. Cheers. tiouty01
