From a shipping company founded in 1806 using sailing vessels to a modern business group: that's the history of Bremen-based C. Melchers & Co. Its general manager Alexander Melchers lives and works in Singapore.The island city-state of Singapore has one of the world's largest ports and is considered a hub of global trade. Here the financial crisis is very perceptible. The volume of trade has dropped considerably. Our reporter Manuela Kasper-Claridge accompanies Alexander Melchers through Singapore.
