Kishor Mangesh Bandekar is the tournament director of the Goa International Open Grandmaster Chess Tournament 2018. He worked really hard to ensure that the event is conducted in the best possible manner. With a world class playing venue, accommodation and food included in entry fee, Rs.34,00,000 prize fund, the Goa tournament turned into one of the best events witnessed in Indian chess recently. How did he manage to organize such a grand show in a small place like Goa? How did he get the sponsors? How did he ensure that even the world chess body FIDE took notice of his high class organization? This is a story of a man who was a failure in life, but was saved by chess. Chess helped to open doors in Kishor's life and he never looked back. He became a CA and now is ensuring that Goa becomes one of the powerhouses in the world of chess. An inspiring interview.
