So how fast are they? And which one is the fastest? Care to take a guess?

The actual GPS Speed Test is coming up soon! Just started the editing today. If anyone guesses the exact speed of both models during the next 24 hours (in time for the final edit) I will be amazed and make sure to give that incredible correct guess and person a shout out in that edited video!

Both are running with standard 6S NiMH batteries, the same that was used in the GPS speed test, so you might wanna add an extra mph or kph to your guess, since the voltage of those batteries probably dropped a tiny bit during the speed test.

The Bigwig is running with a Tamiya 540-J (Johnson) 27T Silver Can with a 13T pinion gear. The Boomerang is running with the stock Mabuchi 540 (RS-540SH) 27T Silver Can with a 15T pinion.  As most of you know, both are utilizing the Hotshot gears and drive train and the same sized wheels and tires, so the internal gearing is a 100% match. The Bigwig has just been re-assembled and the Boomerang is a relatively new build, so both should be well-greased and performing to their max. Still, with the above information, and after re-watching this short clip, I am pretty surprised at the measurement I got. 

Ohh, and yes, the Bigwig actually broke down in this video (upholding the tradition of my Bigwig runs), as can be seen when it's slowly crawling back in this video ... Seems like the aftermath of my brushless runs and jumps in the past has put hair-line cracks in all those vintage brittle plastic parts - ready to reveal themselves, one after one, even in the most gentle runs like this one. 

Now that I have my brand new 2017 Boomerang edition with fresh plastic all the way through, I'm actually pretty sure this particular Bigwig has seen it's last run now. On top of that, the Boomerang design/chassis seems so much more capable and nimble to me, and I simply no longer see a need to keep tormenting an old tired lady. Good night little 1986 Bigwig. Sorry for waking you up this way. But it was fun. Hope to build a fresh Bigwig 2017 runner some day.

These videos where spontaneously recorded just before a little cozy run where I just wanted to relax a little and enjoy running my Boomerang a little (even at the expense of loosing a little thread on those spiked tires on the asphalt). All off road areas are wet and muddy right now and these are two of the models in my collection that will not be taking any mud baths. At the same time I wanted to test the Bigwig shortly, after it's recent re-build. I'm not sure how much sense it makes to upload one-take videos in 4K in this location and with lighting as seen here. But it's getting harder and harder to find a sweet little dry spot with proper sunlight - now when winter approaches and days are getting shorter, light is vanishing and everything gets wetter. And yes, I struggled with the one-handed driving with the Traxxas TQ transmitter and I struggled with my one-handed parking skills in the end. But well, here it is, watch it if you want to.
