Libyan FM gives update on recent talks with NATO members

(11 Dec 2018) LEADIN: The Libyan foreign minister has held a press conference on recent talks with NATO. The focus was on improving security in the troubled country. STORYLINE: The Prime Minister of Libya's internationally recognised Government of National Accord, Fayez Al-Sarraj, has been meeting with NATO in Brussels. His foreign minister, Mohamed Siala, provided an update on those discussions. He says Al-Sarraj thanked the US for its "support to combat terrorism in Libya" and for its help with plans to "achieve security, stability and economic reform in Libya". "The President (Al-Sarraj) elaborated on the security arrangements that were carried out in Libya, which started from the capital Tripoli, but is intended to spread to the rest of Libya as part of the measures taken in Tripoli which achieved clear and tangible results in terms of achieving security," he adds.
