Lufthansa plane EMERGENCY: Passenger jet declares mid-air alert over France A LUFTHANSA passenger jet has declared a mid-air emergency while flying over France. The plane flew over France on its way to the Colombian capital but appears to have turned back around the western French coast. The flight had been due to arrive in Bogota later this evening. The reason for the emergency was not immediately obvious but Lufthansa later confirmed the plane turned around due to a smell on board.
