JSON è uno dei più usati formati per lo scambio di dati nel web, può essere utilizzato con la maggior parte dei linguaggi di programmazione ed è supportato dalla maggior parte delle API web. Crescendo l'adozione di JSON, anche i database relazionali tradizionali stanno integrando funzionalità JSON. Iniziamo ad esplorare come lavorare con il nuovo datatype JSON disponibile nativamente in MySQL e PostgreSQL ed a considerare quando può essere utile avere un modello di dati ibrido in luogo di un modello relazionale puro o un puro NoSQL.
