ReactOS won't do anything!

OK, so recently on my internet travels I came across something called "React OS", It's a free alternative to windows, it's still in development, but the final release will be compatible with all windows software and hardware drivers. (or so they say). I downloaded my self a copy of it to see what it's like so far and th thing wont even go any further than the "splash screen", so what the hell did I do wrong? HOW do you make it work?
