This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Great inventions change the world, but we take most of them for granted never thinking what was so successful in that first phone that phones are now ubiquitous. Or maybe it wasn’t the phone but something else? In this talk Eran Bashan tells the story of disruptive inventions, how to get them adopted, the value of horses, and how all of this relates to insulin management and diabetes. If you’re struggling to get your cool new invention adopted, you may want to listen to this talk. Eran Bashan is currently the CEO of Hygieia. Eran co-founded Hygieia, along with Dr. Israel Hodish, in 2008 with the goal of taming diabetes. Hygieia’s d-Nav insulin guidance service is now available in the UK allowing people with diabetes to take control over their disease while making it a smaller part of their lives. Prior to Hygieia, Eran spent several years as an R&D engineer. Before his engineering days Eran taught high school Math and prep courses for psychometric exams. Eran started his career in the military as a field officer where he was a Company commander in the Armor Corps. Eran holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering - systems from the University of Michigan. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
