Dayton Police Investigate Multiple Shootings

DAYTON -- Multiple shootings are under investigation in Dayton. Two shootings happened just miles apart on the west side of Dayton leaving two people with life-threatening injuries. We're told the victims are both in critical condition. The first shooting happened in the 1900 block of Arlene Avenue around 11:00 Thursday night. Witnesses say two males were playing basketball when two people walked up and started shooting, then fled on foot. Investigators with Dayton's Homicide Squad tell us it appears the suspects were specifically targeting one of the males. Police say he sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The second shooting happened on Gettysburg Avenue at the Whitney Young apartment complex just before 1:00 Friday morning. Witnesses say two men approached the victim, when one of them started shooting. The duo then fled on foot. Investigators are still looking for a motive for the shooting. Investigators say the victim from the Whitney Young apartments is in surgery. We will bring you updates as soon as we can.
