Earlier this week (Tuesday) North Korea threatened to use a pre-emptive strike against South Korea to reduce it to "debris" if it does not stop activists from sending anti-Pyongyang leaflets across the border. It directly addressed the leaflets during military talks on Monday. North Korea says it wants Seoul to stop what it calls its smear campaign -- in reference to activists who have been sending thousands of pamphlets over the North Korean border using helium balloons. VOA's Kurt Achin was on hand Monday as activists launched the leaflets toward the North.
