I'm working on forging a cross for a customer, and the design I had planned DID NOT work out... That's when I decided to employ a rapid design change. 

Instead of being able to use a cape chisel to peel out the metal for the inlay on the metal cross, I had to come up with an alternative. 

Even as a professional, you'll still have a learning curve on different blacksmith techniques. I hope my blacksmith tips and tricks will be helpful for you, if you face a project that needs a rapid design change too. 

In this video series, I show how to forge a metal cross made from a thick steel plate. If you're interested in seeing this blacksmith forging a cross, this video series is for you!

I've made several different types of crosses before. I've made a forged split cross before. Some other cross variations include forging a celtic cross or forging a troll cross.
