 After almost a decade shark cage diving off the waters off Stewart island has now been declared illegal under the wildlife act in a court ruling. Last Tuesday the court of appeal found that since cage diving was introduced into the area in 2008 sharks have become bolder and more vicious with some people feeling that these amazing wild creatures have sadly been trained to associate boats and humans with food.

Some residents believe that it will only be a matter of time before someone was killed by a shark. The judges that gave the ruling also said that the wildlife act has never been fit for purpose in respect of shark cage diving.
