Nederlandse Spoorwegen Emergency Train Evacuation, Hoofddorp, The Netherlands– 15th May, 2018. 

Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) is the principal passenger railway operator in the Netherlands. NS provides rail services on the Dutch main rail network (hoofdrailnet). This film features views using an iPhone 6S Plus, which for the majority of this film was sat in my shirt breast pocket (I want to stress that I was not holding this in my hand for the evacuation part of the film), as myself and all other passengers were evacuated from a broken down Nederlandse Spoorwegen train, just outside of Hoofddorp railway station. I got the train at Breda at 15:45, and it was supposed to arrive at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport station at 16:35. The train broke down just outside of Hoofddorp railway station at around 16:20 and stayed there. The air-conditioning was not working and it was 28 degrees outside. The train crew and staff were very helpful in difficult circumstances, but the decision was made to evacuate the train at around 18:45. We had to climb down a step ladder, walk along the ballast between the tracks (with luggage, which believe me - that was not easy), and then climb up another step ladder onto another train. I cannot fault the NS staff, who were all very good. I can fault the NS train though, as unfortunately I missed my flight home, and had to pay out £170 for another one. I’ve never experienced anything like this before, it was honestly quite surreal.
