Halloween is a time where we all hear creepy ghost stories, but some of them may actually be true from Civil War soldiers spotted to voices recorded in the dark. Here from Georgia's ghost trackers as they tell tales of things that go bump in the night.

(WXIA) -- Halloween is a time where we all hear creepy ghost stories, but some of them may actually be true. From Civil War soldiers spotted to voices recorded in the dark, 11Alive's Jeremy Campbell investigated local creepy legends.

Our first "true tale" of Georgia ghosts begins in Marietta and was told by Dudley Merrifield of Marietta Ghost Tours.

"The scariest story I have to offer isn't one that was in our script it was something that I personally experienced," he said.

It happened up the stairs to the Cobb Museum of Art where "Kathleen" appeared, breathing against the window.

"The glass fogged from the inside," Merrifield said.

He stressed it was fogged class -- from the inside of an empty building.

"We realized that was actually a ghost, not a real person," he said.

Roswell Ghost Tours is led by real-life ghost hunter John Avena.

"It's not your great grandparents ghost stories that have been passed down from generation to generation. It's actual paranoia activity that is taking place," he said.

Avena shares stories of a Union solider hanged while his Southern Belle lover watching from a window overlooking Roswell Square. He's recorded voices inside the building whispering "One more time."

He deals with more than audio.

"Occasionally we get some pictures that we can't automatically rule out. We just had one taken at Bulloch Hall not long ago," he said.

The photo shows a mysterious, ghostly figure in the lawn caught on camera -- one of several hauntings reported there.

"There's lots (at Bulloch Hall). Unexplained lighting activity, rocking chairs that rock by themselves, unexplained music coming from within the house," he said.
