The National History Center hosts a briefing for congressional members and staff on the history of U.S. refugee and asylum policy during the Cold War. Historians Carl Bon Tempo and Maria Cristina Garcia outline the evolution of refugee policy from the immediate post-World War II period through the Refugee Act of 1980, which amended several laws and created the Federal Refugee Resettlement Program.
